FOOT & ANKLE PAIN

//////////

Gait Analysis

Podiatrists specialise in diagnosing and treating lower limb injuries by undertaking biomechanical assessments (gait analysis). You will have an in depth analysis of how your foot functions when you walk or run. We offer specialist treatments such as 3D printing to make customised foot insoles and braces which reduce the pain and provide comfort and support to your feet.

Your podiatrist may also provide footwear advice and exercise programmes to help treat the underlying pain or injury. When should you book in?

A podiatrist will treat a variety of lower limb injuries. If you are suffering with:

  • Heel pain / plantar fasciitis
  • Flat feet / arch pain
  • Pain in the ball of the foot (metatarsalgia)
  • Knee pain
  • Achilles tendinitis
  • Shin splits (MTSS)
  • Big toe / bunion pain
  • Leg length differences
  • Arthritis in the feet/ ankles
  • Diabetic feet
  • Tendon and ligament injuries
  • Ankle sprains
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Hypermobility
  • Paediatric concerns (flat feet, in-toeing)

Then you should come and see us.

Optogait

Measures underlying abnormalities with how you walk or run. The computerised analysis is more in depth than what you can see with a human eye, so can help to identifying postural problems and underlying asymmetries that are linked to pain and injury.

What should I expect from my appointment?

Your podiatrist will ask questions relating to your injury and lifestyle. We will then attempt to make an accurate diagnosis but sometimes refer for an MRI/X-Ray/ blood test if needed. An assessment of your foot posture and arches, general body posture, how you walk (gait analysis) and/or run using video analysis on a treadmill will be undertaken. Some specific clinical tests may be performed to suggest potential reasons of why you are pain. You will leave with a package of care to help you improve your quality life and get you back on your feet.
